Kicker Nick Folk Announces Decision On Future

The New England Patriots struggled with their kickers last season. Several players came in and out, but they all struggled with inconsistency. Things got better this season. Veteran kicker Nick Folk is finishing one of the best seasons in his career and he has yet to make a decision on his future in the NFL.

Folk has spent some time with several teams in the NFL. He made stops with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets and Patriots. Folk is a brilliant performer and he reached the highest peak in his career. The veteran kicker took his game to a different level in 2020.

Many experts thought that Folk would retire following the 2017 season. He hit the field again in 2019 and tried to help the Patriots solve their problems with their kickers.

Nick Folk is positive about his future

Folk is having a good season and he may stay around for a little longer than expected. Media members asked the kicker a few questions about his future. Will he call it career?

“There’s no inkling in me that wants to stop,” Folk said. “I want to keep going. I want to keep playing. I think I have a lot of leg left.”

NFL experts would definitely agree on this one.

In 2020, Folk made 25-of-27 field goal attempts. This includes over 12 field goals from at least 40 yards. He also made 92.9 percent of his extra point attempts.

Folk will enter the open market after the end of the season. He will make $1 million this year. Of course, these numbers have increased Folk’s value on the market. The Patriots should definitely consider keeping Folk on the 2021 roster. He is a valuable player and New England needs a consistent kicker on the field. Folk is one of the few great players on the roster. The rest struggled throughout the entire season.

Head coach Bill Belichick had words of praise for the veteran kicker. He would love to have Folk ready to perform in 2021. The Patriots missed the chance to make the playoffs this season. They will try to change that in the upcoming season.
