Kobe Bryant’s Advice to Rob Pelinka About Acquiring Anthony Davis Revealed

Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant had the advice for general manager Rob Pelinka regarding the acquisition of Anthony Davis. Kobe was a great mentor and he had the opportunity to work with many select players. Davis is one of them, and they worked out together in the summer of 2018.

These summer sessions had great impression on the Black Mamba. He didn’t really recruit big players to Los Angeles during his basketball career. However, not long after the minicamp, the basketball legend called Pelinka. If by any chance you didn’t know, Pelinka was Gianna’s Godfather and Kobe’s former agent. Today, Pelinka is a general manager in LA.

“Hey, you know I don’t give you GM advice,” Kobe told Pelinka. “But if you ever get a chance to get this guy, he is the avatar of what you want. His level of footwork, his dexterity, his mastery of the details of the game. Guys like this are generational players.”

Kobe had the right advice on Anthony Davis

Pelinka worked out a blockbuster trade to get Davis. He traded Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, three-first round picks and the team’s 2019 fourth overall pick to get Davis. It was a nice package, but Davis made his way to LA. He had to become a Laker.

Davis won a ring in his first season with the Lakers. Yes, the team got rid of several young players and assets to get the big man. He is definitely worth the money. He scored 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 62 games with the Lakers.

Today, Davis is one of the building blocks in LA. He joins forces with four-time NBA champion LeBron James. They did a wonderful job in 2019-20 and they will do it again. This time they will play with a lot stronger roster.

Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell, and many others will do their best to bring the team to the top. LA has a good chance to win a title, and Kendrick Perkins sees them as ultimate winners in the 2020-21 season.
