Kyle Kuzma Addresses on His Future With The Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers made a lot of great moves this offseason. The team won the 2020 NBA championship, and the front office didn’t waste any time. General Manager Rob Pelinka signed a few talented players before giving LeBron James and Anthony Davis great contract extensions. LeBron signed a two-year deal worth $85 million with the team. Davis agreed to a five-year max contract worth $190 million. What about the other players? Kyle Kuzma has been part of too many rumors this offseason, and he spoke on his future with the Lakers.

According to Kuzma, his agent and the Lakers are talking about a future extension. They are not trying to rush anything, and it may take a while before both sides reach an agreement.

Pelinka talked about Kuzma last month in one of his interviews with media members.

“In terms of Kuz, since we drafted him he’s been terrific, we’ve all seen his growth. As you guys know, the way the rules work, he has next season under contract with the Lakers and he’s extension eligible this offseason,” Pelinka said. “He has great representation, and when the time is right we’ll sit down and speak with them.”

Kyle Kuzma to have a great future with the Lakers

The Lakers signed big deals with LeBron and Davis, so they can’t really go after a third player this offseason. They may extend Kuzma’s deal and work with the players they signed recently.

NBA fans criticized Kuzma this past season. There was also a petition about him. Someone made it to stop the young Laker from getting his ring. Kuzma didn’t have his best season and came off the bench as the key sixth player. He was averaging 12.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in his 25 minutes per game with the Lakers. This is less than the 19 points in 30 minutes of game he had in the 2018-19 season. Kuzma did play on a championship-level and his teammates really like him. LeBron appreciates his talent and contribution.
