LeBron James Reacts to Kyle Kuzma’s Contract Extension with Lakers

Four-time NBA champion LeBron James got the big news about Kyle Kuzma and the contract extension he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers front office secured another core player on Sunday and the king of basketball had an expected reaction.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kuzma agreed to sign a three-year contract extension worth $40 million. He also has a player option for the 2023-24 option. Some experts thought that Kuzma would get a bigger deal, but this is definitely an expected development for both sides.

King James took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Kuzma’s extension. Let’s not forget that LeBron expects a great performance from his younger teammate.

LeBron to see greater performance from Kyle following his contract extension

Young Kuzma had a huge dip in minutes and his performance. He did a much better job in the 2018-19 season. However, the arrival of Anthony Davis affected Kuzma’s performance and his time on the basketball court. There wasn’t much room for the fourth-year forward to become a focal point in the team’s offensive scheme.

Kuzma finished the 2019-20 season averaging 12.8 points in 25 minutes per game on the floor. This is the lowest in Kuzma’s career.

The new contract extension made headlines today. Things started to look really well for Kuzma. The University of Utah standout got his motivation right on time. This leads us the following question. How many minutes will Kuzma get in the upcoming season?

Talen Horton-Tucker did a wonderful job in the preseason. In other words, Kuzma will have to fight for the minutes he gets in 2020-21. If young Kuzma continues to elevate his game with LeBron James and Anthony Davis by his side, the Los Angeles Lakers will get a much higher chance to win back-to-back titles. Kuzma will become an unrestricted free agent at 28.

Kuzma and his teammates are getting ready for the upcoming season. LA got several valuable players this offseason, including Montrezl Harrell, Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol and a few other names. LeBron signed his contract extension too. AD is cemented on the Lakers roster.
