New England Patriots Cap Expert Has Blunt Prediction for Cam Newton Patriots Future

New England Patriots salary cap expert Miguel Bezan has a theory on veteran quarterback Cam Newton, his role with the Patriots, and his future in the NFL.

If his theory is right, Newton will have to look for another home in the NFL.

Bezan saw pretty much everything from Newton. He took to his Twitter to provide answers to some of the most common salary cap questions.  The salary cap expert suggested that Newton may look for a $25-$30 million deal from the Patriots in the offseason. Head coach Bill Belichick would have offered this deal had Newton maintained his level of play from the start of the season.

Bezan makes theory on Cam Newton and his Patriots future

Followers asked too many questions, and Bezan took his time to explain his thoughts. That’s not the best part. Will New England really bring Newton back in 2021? Bezan wouldn’t even re-sign the 2015 NFL MVP as a “bridge quarterback.”

Some experts share Bezan’s thoughts on Newton. Others have a completely different theory on the Patriots quarterback.

Newton has impressive mobility, power and size. Unlike most quarterbacks in the NFL, he has some really sharp weapons. Bobby Douglass of the Chicago Bears and Daunte Culpepper of the Minnesota Vikings are the closest a NFL quarterback could ever get to Newton.

Truth is, Newton is a good runner and he can also make plays down the field with his strong arm. He is one of the most accurate and effective quarterbacks in the league on deeper throws. Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels chose a different approach, and his approach “handcuffed” Newton and second-year wide receiver N’Keal Harry.

Boston sports historian and host of the Stats Not Stories podcast Tucker Boynton shared a stat that supports a recent theory on Newton’s connection with receivers on long routes.

He also reminded us how strong Newton has been on the short throws.

Player Profiler suggests that Newton ranks No.2 in the NFL in deep-ball accuracy. Yes, Newton will have to do better on the field, but McDaniels should also change his approach. New England has yet to make a decision on their starting quarterback.
