Patriots Players React To Julian Edelman Being Placed on Reserve List

New England Patriots wideout Julian Edelman ended up on reserve list, and that’s the last thing the team needed right now.

The veteran wideout is on injured reserve due to a knee injury. As if that wasn’t enough, New England placed him on the COVID-19/reserve list Monday. We don’t know whether Edelman’s coronavirus test returned positive or if he had close contact with a positive person.

Edelman is the ninth Patriots player to end up on this list. But, he is the first to be added to this list since Oct. 17. Patriots players were more than devastated to hear this. They all hoped to see Edelman back on the field this season. Players still look forward to Edelman’s speedy recovery.

“Yeah, you know, it’s tough. The whole virus thing is really tough, but Jules, like he always does, he’ll bounce back,” offensive lineman David Andrews told media members Monday. “He’s one of the tougher guys we got in the locker room. He’s always ready to go. I know he’ll look at it as another challenge and do what he’s done kind of his whole career.”

Julian Edelman to be removed from reserve list

Team captain Matthew Slater said it was a tough year for his teammate. Truth is, this was a tough year for every NFL player out there. Slater feels for his teammate and called him, “a great friend.” He also knows that Edelman is one of the very few people to find the best way to overcome situations like this one. Slater is positive about Edelman’s potential return.

“Yeah, it’s been tough,” he said. “It’s been a tough year for Julian, it’s been a tough year for all of us. It’s been that kind of year. I feel for Julian. Julian is such a great friend. But there’s one thing I know, if there’s anyone who can find a way to overcome all those things, it’s him. And I know that he’ll do that. So, I think right now we just want to pray that he’s OK, that he’s feeling well, and hopefully this is something that he can move past rather quickly.”

Edelman missed five games due to his knee procedure. He was eligible to return to the practice field two weeks ago, but New England kept him on the list. Edelman is definitely not playing against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
