Rams’ Pass Rusher Fined for Dangerous Hit on Cam Newton

The New England Patriots are still trying to get over the 24-3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Things don’t go really well for the team, and their chances to make the playoffs are pretty slim. Four days earlier, the Patriots smashed the Los Angeles Chargers with a 45-0 blow. A dangerous hit almost left veteran quarterback Cam Newton with a serious injury. Pass rusher Joey Bosa hit Newton in the knee, and now he will have to cope with the consequences. This hit was pretty similar to the hit that pushed Tom Brady out of the game in 2008.

NFL fined Bosa for a dangerous hit on Cam Newton

Ian Rapoport from NFL Network reported that Bosa will have to pay $15,000 for the terrible hit.

Bosa apologized for his hit. Defensive players have to be tough, and hits happen. But, this particular hit was awful, and it almost put an end to Newton’s career. That’s why the NFL fined Bosa.

When it comes to the loss against the Rams, the Patriots were pretty weak. LA had a strong rushing attack supported by great edge blocks from tight ends and wideouts. Rookie Cam Akers was really successful with his running game.

The Patriots offense struggled to move around. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels affected the passing game. Newton was throwing the ball, and then Jarrett Stidham stepped in as a replacement.

Lawrence Guy and other Patriots players shared their thoughts following the loss.

“We ain’t a bunch of quitters. It doesn’t matter what the record is. It doesn’t matter what the outcome is. We ain’t a bunch of quitters. We’re going to go out there and play some football. We are who we are. We’re NEP, and that’s what we’re going to do — continue to fight regardless of what happens at the end of the season.”

It’s a big approach, and New England has a solid leadership in the locker room.

Head coach Bill Belichick will keep Newton under center. He won’t use another quarterback to finish the season. Newton is the starting quarterback for the team and that won’t change in 2020. Will Belichick change his mind in 2021?
