Report: Anthony Davis Finalizing Deal With Lakers

LeBron James signed his contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. This deal would give him $85 million in two years. A day after the king agreed to sign his extension, sources confirmed that Anthony Davis has agreed to sign his deal with the Lakers. In fact, the All-Star is in the final stages of inking his big contract. Can you make any guesses regarding Davis’ criteria?

Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN reported that the big man will sign a five-year max extension with the Lakers. He will earn $190 million in the next few years.  A nice deal, right?

“All-NBA forward Anthony Davis is finalizing a five-year, $190 million maximum contract to stay with the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, Klutch Sports CEO and founder Rich Paul told ESPN. The deal includes an early termination option prior to the fifth year of the deal in 2024-25, Paul said.”

Anthony Davis signs a good deal with the Lakers

Davis declined the player option of his current deal with the team. It was more than obvious that he was going after a better deal with the team. Some predicted a short-term deal with the Lakers. According to Wojnarowski’s report, Davis will commit his future to the purple and gold. Wojnarowski also provided a breakdown of how much the big ma would earn in the next five years.

“Bobby Marks says Davis would make $32,742,000 this upcoming season, $35,361,360 in 2021-22, $37,980,720 in 2022-23, $40,600,080 in 2023-24 and $43,219,440 in the fifth year of the deal.”

Davis is worth every bit of the money. He helped the Lakers won the first title in a decade. Former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson struggled to bring him in Los Angeles. The New Orleans Pelicans wouldn’t give up on him. LA managed to get the All-Star after one failed attempt. Davis arrived at the right time, and he worked really well with LeBron.

The seven-time All-Star was averaging 26.1 points (on 50.3 percent shooting), 9.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.3 blocks per regular-season game this past season. He was even better in the playoffs. LeBron and Davis did wonders together, and the best has yet to come.
