Report: Josh McDaniels ‘Absolutely’ Wants To Be Head Coach Again

The New England Patriots are well outside the playoffs this season. The team will soon bring this disappointing season to an end. NFL experts are worried about the team’s current situation. Several players are dealing with serious injuries and head coach Bill Belichick has yet to find the right starting quarterback for the team. Belichick will also have to replace Jedd Fisch. This leads us all the way to another member of the coaching staff. We all know that Josh McDaniels would gladly be a head coach in the NFL.

McDaniels has been linked to several teams in the past. However, Belichick won’t just give up on him. This doesn’t change the fact that McDaniels would love to coach his own team. Some teams have shown interest in his skills.

Josh McDaniels to become a head coach in the NFL

New England lost the game to the Buffalo Bills and NFL experts have started talking about McDaniels’ next move. The offensive coordinator said he wants to be a head coach again.

“I definitely want to do that,” he said. “I’d love to have that opportunity if it presents itself.”

McDaniels spent 1 ½ season as a head coach with the Denver Broncos from 2009 to 2010. Reports announced him as the Indianapolis Colts head coach in 2018. However, McDaniels decided to stay in New England.

In 2019, the offensive coordinator had interviews with the Green Bay Packers. In 2020, McDaniels had interviews with the Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. However, both teams hired their head coaches before their meeting with McDaniels.

This was a trying season for the offensive coordinator. The Patriots offense will soon finish the first season without quarterback Tom Brady. Players ran the ball, but Newton’s passing attack is one of the worst in the NFL.

New England ranks 28th in the NFL in scoring with 19.9 points per game. The team hasn’t ranked this low since 1990. The NFL had just 29 teams back then.

The Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, and Detroit Lions have empty head coaching positions. Will McDaniels leave the Patriots to join any of these teams?
