Report: Patriots Met With Notable NFL Kicker

The New England Patriots missed the chance to play the big game this season. But, head coach Bill Belichick didn’t miss a chance to check pretty much every option out there. New England has to address several major topics this offseason and bring more talent to the roster. According to most recent reports, the Patriots met with kicker Robert Aguayo this week. Mike Reiss confirmed the information.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected the NFL kicker in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. It was a risky move as most NFL teams don’t really select a kicker that high in the draft. The Buccaneers didn’t want to miss the chance and took the risk.

It was a bad move. Aguayo had a terrible rookie campaign in 2016. He finished the season with worst field-goal percentage in the league. The Bucs waived him ahead of the 2017 season and Aguayo made stops in Chicago, Carolina and Los Angeles. He has yet to find a home in the NFL. Is he the next player to join the Patriots?

Patriots to work on a backup kicker plan

Veteran kicker Nick Folk does the job for the Patriots right now. He was really successful this season. However, Folk is aging and New England may be working on the backup plan. Is Aguayo a good fit for the team?

NFL experts are focused on this comeback story. Robert Aguayo had a disappointing NFL experience following his amazing collegiate career at Florida State.

New England sure knows how to help new players reach their full potential. Maybe head coach Bill Belichick has the perfect plan for Aguayo. Will the legendary coach give this struggling player a second chance? If yes, Aguayo will have to do his best to stay in the team. Belichick is not someone who thinks twice before eliminating a player.

Aguayo may be the first player to join the Patriots following their disappointing season. Belichick will have to make a big decision regarding his quarterback. This includes veteran quarterback Cam Newton and his contract with the team. Some experts believe that coach B will move on from his current signal-caller.
