Several Names On The List For The Patriots 2021 Quarterback

Several NFL teams have to make a decision regarding their starting quarterback. The New England Patriots are part of this list, and so are the Philadelphia Eagles. Both the Patriots and the Eagles have a major question mark at the No.1 quarterback position heading into the 2021 season.

The Eagles replaced longtime starter Carson Wentz with rookie Jalen Hurts. The former Oklahoma and Alabama product will start his first game against New Orleans on Sunday. Philadelphia has to pick the right quarterback, and this leads us all the way to New England.

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton signed a one-year deal with the team. The Patriots’ offense saw a lot of struggles this season, and the passing game wasn’t at its sharpest. Newton was great in some games, but he struggled with inconsistency. This is the last thing New England needed in the first season following Tom Brady’s departure.

Patriots to pick another quarterback in 2021

We can already see head coach Bill Belichick move on to a new signal caller in 2021. Do you have any suggestions? Pro Football Talk created a list of names that would be of great help for the Patriots in the upcoming season.

“Like 2020, the 2021 offseason potentially will feature plenty of quarterbacks with NFL experience. We ripped through some of them on Friday’s PFT Live. Sam Darnold, Philip Rivers, Matthew Stafford, Andy Dalton, Matt Ryan. Dak Prescott, if the Cowboys don’t tag him again. (They’d be crazy not to.) Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett. Maybe Alex Smith, if Washington doesn’t want to pay his $16 million salary and releases him.”

It’s a long list, we must admit. Maybe you will cross some of the names on this list. One thing stands for sure. Stafford and Darnold are more than acceptable at this point of the season.

The same applies to Carson Wentz. He was mentioned in multiple trade talks related to the New England Patriots.

Peter King and several other analysts don’t see Newton as a Patriot in 2021. The veteran may have to look for another home in the NFL. He has already been in a similar position.
