Watch: Cam Newton, Patriots WRs Pregame Ritual Is Going Viral

The New England Patriots entered Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams with two straight wins. Patriots veteran Cam Newton was super excited about the big show and his pregame ritual was hilarious. Head coach Bill Belichick and his team tried really hard to stay in the AFC playoff race. It’s a big challenge for the team, and Newton did his thing. It wasn’t enough.

Take a look at Newton’s pregame warm-ups and pay close attention to his customized handshake ritual. FOX cameras caught the whole thing.

Patriots pregame ritual wasn’t enough

The Los Angeles Rams crushed Belichick’s team, and New England lost 24-3. They had a fast start and didn’t even look back. LA started the game with a six-play, 75-yard touchdown drive. They weren’t ready to give up the lead. Even when defensive players settled down and forced a turnover, the offense failed to take an advantage.

The 2015 NFL MVP threw a pick-six to give the Rams a 17-3 lead. In the second half, things got even worse. It went underway with a drive by the offense resulting in a punt to the Rams. They turned around and finished with a 16-play, 90-yard, touchdown drive. This drive took 9:42 off the clock and ended the Week 14 game.

Patriots players had a night full of disappointment. They did get a chance to build off of the best game of the regular season. They could take control of the playoff run down the stretch. But, players wasted every chance they had and the Rams used their weaknesses to win.

Newton has strong weapons and the offense can do the impossible. However, he didn’t play his best football last night. Newton went 9-for-16 for 119 yards and an interception. However, he also held the ball when he had wide open receivers. Newton missed the short throws that he had to make to earn his spot in New England. When it comes to his rushing game, Newton had 2.6 yards per carry on seven attempts.

The veteran is not the only one to be blamed here. New England didn’t really do much to change the offense to fit his strength. Newton needs talent around him.
