Coach Bill Belichick Comments on Cam Newton Future With Patriots

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has received too many questions about veteran quarterback Cam Newton and his future with the team. Well, let’s be honest. This is probably the most common question throughout the entire 2020 NFL season. Is Newton staying with the Patriots? Is he on his way out?

Media members would love to learn more about the Patriots’ offensive weapons. New England has to boost the linebacker group. Several players opted-out of the 2020 season and some of them are ready to hit the field in 2021. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is making headlines, too. But, none of these questions is exciting as Newton’s future with the team.

Cam Newton and his future with the Patriots are the main topics right now

The Patriots head coach provided an interesting answer this time. Belichick is a man of few words and he doesn’t really say much about his future plans. As you may be guessing, Belichick is all about playing against the New York Jets on Sunday.

“Yeah, I mean again at this point, just trying to do the best I can to help our team prepare for the Jets and finish the season on a good note.”

Again, these guys have really competed well in practice this week. They’ve tried to get ready like they have all year long, and I want to do the best that I can to prepare our team to give us every opportunity to perform well on Sunday.

“So, all your questions about some other year and going forward and all that, we’ll deal with that in due time. But, right now, I really want us to try to go out and perform well on Sunday, and that’s really what everybody’s trying to do here, which that’s what I want and that’s what I expect and that’s what I respect about this group is the way they approach things like that.”

We have already seen a similar attitude. Belichick is always focused on his next game. This time, he is working on the gameplan for the final game of 2020. The Patriots are playing against the Jets, and this game may be a game-changer for some of the players. Newton, Jarrett Stidham… These two can definitely help Belichick make the right decision regarding their time with the team.
