Former Patriots Quarterback Shines in Playoff Loss, Stirs Talk About 2021 Return

The Washington Football Team was close to defeating Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was a good performance, and Taylor Heinicke was brilliant. Heinicke played in 2019 after spending some time with several teams. He was also part of the Patriots practice unit. The quarterback settled in for the Washington Football Team in emergency. He almost led his team to a big win. Heinicke’s great performance with the team was more than enough to trigger an avalanche of rumors. Will the former Patriots quarterback celebrate a 2021 return? Is he making his way to the Patriots?

Washington fell short 31-23, but Heinicke was able to complete 26 of 44 passes for 306 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Heinicke was able to run 46 yards and another score, too. Yes, this makes him a good fit for the Patriots in 2021.

Former Patriots quarterback to shock everyone with his 2021 return

During and after Heinicke’s performance, media members and Patriots Nation discussed his potential signing with the Patriots.

Heinicke had brilliant performance on Saturday. It’s too early to make any predictions or spread a speculation. But, some fans would really love to see him in New England.

Some of Heinicke’s throws were unquestionable. He surprised everyone with his NFL-QB tosses. We would also like to note that the Bucs had zero time to develop a defense to shut down Heinicke. The team didn’t know he’d play until the last moment.

Even if the Buccaneers had known he was in for the game, there isn’t too much film on him. But, this doesn’t change the fact that Heinicke was brilliant in the game. Some have even compared him to veteran quarterback Cam Newton.

Washington decided to trust a quarterback they had to get from the practice unit to throw the ball 44 times in a playoff game.

Newton had 44 attempts in one game in 2020. In that game, the Patriots lost to the Seattle Seahawks. Newton threw for season-high 397 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The 2015 NFL MVP also ran for 2 more scores. This is pretty similar to Heinicke’s playoff play.
