Kobe Bryant Lakers Teammate Makes Bold Claim About Black Mamba’s Legacy

The world will long talk about Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant and his legacy. Kobe is one of the greatest basketball players to ever play the game and he had great deals with several top brands, including Nike. However, recent reports suggest that the late legend considered leaving Nike. That’s not all. According to this source, Kobe wanted to start his own sneaker company.

The whole thing started when Shervin Pishevar took to Twitter to share details of his 2019 meeting with Kobe.

Kobe Bryant built a strong legacy

In a recent interview with Landon Buford from Forbes Magazine, Kobe’s former teammate, Cedric Ceballos bit into this. He believes that Kobe could have done this, adding that current NBA players would gladly drop their sneaker deals to sign with his brand.

“A lot of people would have [gone] with him in whatever venture he went to,” Ceballos told Buford. “Just because they grew and he was their Michael Jordan. You see how many players wear his shoes now in the game. They are a drop item; they have a new Kobe shoe coming out just like Jordan’s. People will rush to it and try to grab it, and I’m not sure if he is second on the notch of desirable shoes, but he has to be at least top five.

“So, a lot of people would have gone with him in his ventures. I think it is so classic because of the money made off of sneakers and the buzz off that. The fact that he would own that it would have been great. Look at what Baron Davis and Master P are trying to do with Reebok. I think that is great, and there is no reason we shouldn’t have an opportunity to own our own shoes. Shaq has been doing it for years, Stephon Marbury has also done it for years.”

Kobe won five titles, two NBA Finals MVP awards, and a regular-season MVP award. He was an 18-time NBA All-Star and ranks fourth on the league’s career scoring list with his 33,643 points.

The Black Mamba retired in 2016. His 20-year career was brilliant as he was averaging 25.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 5.2 rebounds.

Kobe, his daughter Gianna, and seven others died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26, 2020. He lost his life right after LeBron James passed him on the all-time scoring list.
