Kyle Kuzma Points to One Specific Aspect of Kobe Bryant’s Game He’s Tried to Implement

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant died a year ago and basketball fans can’t get over the sudden loss. The Black Mamba built a strong relationship with current and former basketball players. Lakers star Kyle Kuzma was really close with Kobe and even picked up parts of his game.

Young Kuzma wanted to soak up everything he could from the five-time NBA champion. He talked about this following Lakers’ practice on Wednesday.

“I think more so since I’ve been in the NBA it’s kind of been like the mentality, which is a hard thing to do and consistently do when you think about that ‘Mamba Mentality,’” Kuzma said. “It’s something that’s a lifestyle. Every day, every possession type of thing for me I try to strive to do. Trying to play with a relentless pursuit every possession.

“Obviously, he was a great shot-maker. … Great competitor, but one thing pencil him was competing on every possession and having that relentless pursuit. I think that’s one thing that as a young player in the NBA or in college whatever. That’s what you admire.”

Kyle Kuzma learned a lot from Kobe

Kuzma signed his contract extension in the offseason. There were so many rumors related to his future with the team. However, he signed his deal and doubters stopped speculating. Both Kuzma and the front office benefit from this contract.

Kuzma’s minutes vary, and he doesn’t start games this season. However, he has an important role with the team. Of course, the young player is not the third star behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but he is fine with his current position. Kuzma is averaging 10.9 point and 5.5 rebounds per game with the Lakers. He is shooting 44.1 percent from the floor and 40.3 percent from beyond the arc in 15 regular-season games.

LeBron and AD had great words for their younger teammate. Los Angeles will need more of his brilliance to keep winning games. The Lakers have the best record in the West, and they will try to keep their current position. Kuzma and his teammates will go against Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks.
