LeBron James Destroys Shaq Over Donovan Mitchell Comments

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has triggered an avalanche of comments in one of his recent interviews. The Hall of Famer said he didn’t believe Utah Jazz Donovan Mitchell had what it takes to “get to the next level.” It was a rather disturbing comment, and some players took it personally. O’Neal may have good intentions, but Mitchell was taken aback by these remarks. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James took notice of Shaq and the comments he made on Mitchell, and his reaction was sort of expected.

LeBron James stands by Mitchell following Shaq O’Neal’s comments

The four-time NBA champion disapproves O’Neal’s intentions. Many NBA players stood by his side.

“There’s a difference between constructive criticism and soft hating though,” the 16-tima All-Star wrote. “I’ve seen it both ways come my way, mostly the hate. You can hear it in their delivery.”

LeBron has received unhealthy doses of criticism throughout his entire career. He feels for Mitchell and actually understands him. Maybe Shaq just wanted to motivate the young player to do better on the basketball court. However, his comments were viewed as evil. Simple as that.

It’s interesting to note that Shaq made these comments right after Mitchell led his Jazz teammates to a win. He finished the night with 36 points. Utah is half a game behind LeBron’s team for the top seed in the West. The young star is averaging 24.3 points per game, and that’s a career-high for him.

Mitchell is one of the best guards in modern basketball. He leads one of the best teams in the league. Shaq’s comments would seem just right had the Jazz lost the game. Mitchell is an emerging star and he has seen great improvement. Maybe these comments will motivate him to elevate his game.

Utah is a real threat in the conference. Mitchell and his teammates have won seven straight games. Their roster is packed with talent. Mitchell and Rudy Gobert took part in All-Star games. Mike Conley is one of the best point guards in the league. The Jazz look really great right now, and LeBron loves it when young players show off their stronger side.
