New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore is more than excited to join the 2021 Pro Bowl. COVID-19 changed the entire course of events. This year’s Pro Bowl will be held virtually. Gilmore earned his spot and he even received a very special keepsake. Being part of the NFL’s annual all-star game is a big deal for every football player.

The veteran cornerback took to his Twitter to show off his official AFC Pro Bowl jersey.

Gilmore, punter Jake Bailey and special teams star Matthew Slater joined this year’s Pro Bowl. They are the only Patriots players to represent the team. The NFL replaced the Pro Bowl with a series of virtual events. It will take place this week.

If you are a Patriots fan, you probably know that Gilmore has just earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection. This is his third since becoming a Patriot in 2017. The veteran has one year remaining on his contract with the Patriots. Gilmore will get $7 million in 2021 and the Patriots will probably give him a better deal. Trading the 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is also an option.

Stephon Gilmore to make the Pro Bowl again

According to some sources, the Patriots considered trading Gilmore in 2020. Will they pull out this move in 2021? Gilmore has a key role on the roster, but head coach Bill Belichick can easily send him somewhere else. NFL teams will be able to finalize their trade deals following the start of the new league year on March 17.

What happened with the trade plan? Dianna Russini from ESPN reported that the Patriots asked a first-round draft pick and a player. No NFL team was able to match the demand.

When it comes to Gilmore, he is open to whatever comes his way. However, he’d love to stay in New England. Maybe Belichick will take this into consideration in March. Gilmore is a valuable player, and Belichick may not want to let him go. But, he let Tom Brady go. Will Gilmore receive similar treatment?
