Proposed Trade Has Los Angeles Lakers Dealing for Veteran Guard

The Los Angeles Lakers will have to play wisely in the upcoming period. These couple of months are really important for the team. Teams are a step closer to the trade deadline, and the defending champions play at full speed. Do they need an upgrade? Will the Lakers try to get one particular veteran guard?

Los Angeles could really get another guard. Getting a big name means trading Montrezl Harrell or Kyle Kuzma. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley has some trade ideas for the team. Wayne Ellington, George Hill, JJ Reddick…

The Lakers are efficient with their 3-point line shooting. However, they don’t shoot a lot. LeBron James leads the way with 2.8 taken per game. Los Angeles is averaging 30.9 shots from deep per game, ranking 25th in the league.

LeBron, Lakers need a veteran guard

Ellington is a former Laker and an efficient shooter off the bench. The veteran leads the NBA in 3-point percentage, making 38.8% of his shots from beyond the arc. In his 24.2 minutes per game for the Pistons, Ellington is averaging 13.4 points and 3.5 3-point shots per game.

“I can’t have enough good things to say about Wayne. Not just shooting – defense, he gets after it,” Pistons head coach Dwane Casey said. He leads with his energy. He’s the one in the huddle talking stops. So many things he brings to the table. More than you could put a finger on.”

Hill has played with LeBron in Cleveland. They work together really well. Of course, Hill missed time due to a thumb sprain but he led the NBA in 3-point shooting in 2020.

The Lakers could easily sign some of these players. Keeping players healthy is a priority. LeBron James impressed experts with his MVP performance despite his career-low minutes. LA lost two straight games, but LeBron feels great.

“I don’t get tired. I don’t feel tired,” he said. “Gt my sleep, I get my rest. I have a lot of energy. I don’t get tired. My mindset never gets to a point where it’s like ‘OK this is a long road trip I’m exhausted of I’m tired.’

“I don’t even think about that. We have our games, I’m ready to go. When we’re not playing I have the opportunity to rest and get my body back right, get my mind refreshed. I don’t get tired.”
