Report: Bill Belichick Ready For Abnormally ‘Aggressive’ Offseason

The New England Patriots are expected to have a wild offseason. The team has to address several issues in the next couple of months. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton failed to take the Patriots to the playoffs. But, it wasn’t his fault. New England lacked strong weapons and Newton couldn’t use his talents. This leads us to head coach Bill Belichick and his plans for the offseason.

The Patriots finished the season with a 7-9 record. Maybe the legendary head coach will take a different approach in the offseason. Tom E. Curran from NBC Sports Boston appeared on WEEI to discuss Belichick’s next move.

“Everything I am hearing from down there is that the Patriots are going to be extremely and uncharacteristically aggressive in this offseason,” Curran said. “To me, I think they will be more of a mid-tier team that will try its luck in the draft, so meaning mid-tier free agent — a (Marcus) Mariota, a (Jacoby) Brissett, whoever they deem worth chasing and securing and then to play it in the draft. That’s the hardest thing about this — do you force it in the first round with a Mac Jones or a Kyle Trask, who certainly don’t seem to me to be first-round quarterbacks? Or do you say, ‘we’re going to take that good linebacker and see if Trask or Jones if we take them in the second round are players we can develop, or somebody else?’”

Bill Belichick to have a strong offseason

Where will Belichick go next? What will be his first move? The Patriots head coach will need to find a quarterback. If the Patriots part ways with the 2015 NFL MVP, they will need to pick from the strong group in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Belichick will have to make a lot of decisions. He has so much to do. New England has to catch up with the rest of the league. They failed miserably in the first season without Tom Brady.  Belichick knows this and he will do his best to win more games in 2021. Let’s see what happens in the next couple of months.
