Report: Next Contract For Cam Newton Could Be Huge 2-Year Deal

The New England Patriots may not have a new contract in the pocket for veteran quarterback Cam Newton. He may not be a top option for many teams in the NFL, but he may easily get a nice piece. Adam Schefter from ESPN went on WEEI’s OMF to discuss Newton’s situation.

According to Schefter, Newton will sign a two-year deal worth $40-50 million in the offseason. This may seem like a big deal but Newton is a talented player. NFL general managers may be willing to pay big money for Newton’s services. His past 10 weeks in the NFL should never affect his next deal.

A lucrative contract for Cam Newton

Newton keeps saying that his free-agency decision will in no way be related with money. Of course, Newton won’t allow others to disrespect him. But, we can’t really say that the Patriots will give him a $50 million deal.

The 2015 NFL MVP enjoyed every bit of his season with the Patriots. The team had a disappointing season with the Patriots. Winning games with the Patriots was supposed to be an easy job, but Newton joined a depleted roster. The Patriots had to deal with too many problems. Head coach Bill Belichick likes Newton and he had words of praise for the quarterback. Belichick may be the only person to convince Newton to sign a cheaper deal. Newton may not be interested in joining a new system.

The Carolina Panthers got rid of Newton, leaving him on thin ice. New England was the only team to offer him a deal. Going for a deal with a third team in three years would be just too much. Newton has different plans for his career. He is a talented player and he would love to use the best of his talent.

The Washington Football Team won the NFC East. Will they go for a big quarterback name in the NFL draft? Alex Smith is the starter for the team. Dwayne Haskins had to go.

Washington has Taylor Heinicke, Steven Montez, and Kyle Allen. Newton would be a good fit for Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin. Washington has the No.19 pick in the draft.
