The Philadelphia Eagles Just Saved Bill Belichick From Suffering a Devastating Loss

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels made a decision regarding his future with the Philadelphia Eagles. Patriots fans would be more than excited to hear the good news. Head coach Bill Belichick avoided a big loss.

Believe it or not, McDaniels didn’t get the Eagles job. Philadelphia decided to hire Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni. McDaniels made nine Super Bowls with the Patriots. He was an offensive coordinator in the last three wins. However, there are plenty of people who’d gladly claim the opposite. Doubters are always here to spoil everything.

The offense struggled in 2020. Tom Brady left the Patriots to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was a disappointing season for McDaniels and the Patriots. Bill Belichick signed veteran quarterback Cam Newton to replace TB12. The Patriots had high expectations from Newton, but the 2015 NFL MVP failed to meet any of that. New England went run-heavy and safe with Newton as signal-caller. The offense played terribly, and McDaniels isn’t used to this. His offense is strong and powerful, and this failure almost pushed him away from the Patriots.

Bill Belichick won’t be dealing with another loss

McDaniels has a strong resume, and NFL teams would be more than happy to have him around. Belichick is relieved now. He won’t have to find the right replacement for McDaniels.

There were a few strong candidates to replace McDaniels, including tight ends coach Nick Caley, Cleveland Browns wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea and even former Miami Dolphins and New York Jets head coach Adam Gase. Mike Reiss from ESPN reported that former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia may join the Patriots as an offensive coordinator.

New England will have another year to create a plan B in case McDaniels leaves the organization. They won’t have to think about it at the moment.

Jedd Fisch left the Patriots and accepted the position at the University of Arizona. Joe Judge was supposed to take the OC job, but he became a head coach of the New York Giants.

Assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski left the Patriots in the 2019 offseason. Belichick has to do a lot of thinking and he works with the best group.
