NFL Draft Expert Has Patriots Taking This Player In Round 1

The New England Patriots will have to make a decision regarding Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft. Head coach Bill Belichick missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade. New England has to address several issues in 2021.

The Patriots are set to select with the 15th overall pick in the draft. But, Belichick may trade up to get a better player.

NFL draft expert Daniel Jeremiah believes that the Patriots would get Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons with the 15th pick. He made this claim a few weeks ago. It makes sense, mostly because New England lacks athleticism and talent in the linebacker unit.

Patriots to make a move in Round 1 of the Draft

However, Jeremiah released his second mock draft Tuesday morning and surprised everyone. According to him, Parsons will join the Detroit Lions at the No.7 spot. It’s an interesting mock draft, and it has the Patriots picking South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn joining the Patriots with the 15th pick.

“There’s been a lot of scuttlebutt about the Patriots potentially trading Stephon Gilmore, whose contract expires after the 2021 season. In this scenario, New England looks to his alma mater to find the player who’ll replace him.”

Jeremiah predicted the Minnesota Vikings will get Alabama receiver and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith with the No.14 pick. This would be a big blow for Patriots fans encouraging the team to add more pass-catching talent.

Jeremiah also has Crimson Tide quarterback Mac Jones signing with the New Orleans Saints at No. 28. He doesn’t really believe that the Patriots see Jones as a quarterback who’d earn a mid-first-round selection.

Mock drafts are nothing like real drafts. But, this makes perfect sense. This is the perfect introduction to the upcoming draft. We can’t really say much about NFL teams and their future plans.

The Patriots have many holes on the roster. The team has already met with a tight-end prospect. This player will probably find his home on Day 3 of the NFL draft.

It’s a long offseason for the Patriots. Belichick has to act right, otherwise he will miss yet another season.
