Richard Seymour Shares Simple Message After Left Out Of Hall Of Fame

Former New England Patriots defensive lineman Richard Seymour wasn’t inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021. This was a rather unexpected development of events. It’s interesting to note that Seymour wasn’t among the inductees for the Hall of Fame. The list was revealed at the NFL Honors award show.

Seymor was a Hall of Fame finalist for the third time. The NFL legend had a key role in New England. He had a role in each of the three Super Bowl wins New England celebrated. New England won a lot of games thanks to Seymour’s skills and experience. He was a Patriot from 2001 to 2008. The former first-round pick in 2001 is a seven-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, and joined the Hall of Fame’s 2000s All-Decade Team.

The 41-year-old had an expected reaction to the disappointing night. He had different plans for that night.

Seymour to make the Hall of Fame in the near future

Seymour was left out of last year’s class, too. However, he does respect the process. He was the most valuable player Belichick worked with at the beginning of the Patriots dynasty. Seymor was voted a first-team All-Pro from 2003 to 2006. Cornerback Ty Law was a first-team All-Pro in 1998 and 2003. Adam Vinatieri got the honor in 2002 and 2004. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady wasn’t named a first-team All-Pro until 2008. Linebacker Mike Vrabel and offensive tackle Matt Light were first-team All-Pros in 2007. Safety Rodney Harrison was first-team in 2003. Linebacker Tedy Bruschi, running back Kevin Faulk, wide receiver Troy Brown and linebacker Willie McGinest were never first-team All-Pros. However, they did make the Hall of Fame before Seymour. So, why did people forget how great he was on the football field?

According to Bill Belichick, Seymour and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork are the best defensive lineman he has ever worked with. Seymor was a key piece on Belichick’s team. In 12 seasons, he had 57.5 sacks with 498 tackles, 91 tackles for loss, 39 batted passes, four forced fumbles, and eight fumble recoveries. He wasn’t going after numbers. He was just eating up space and allowing his teammates to finish the job.
