Rodney Harrison Has Picked The Perfect QB For New England Patriots

Former New England Patriots defensive back Rodney Harrison addressed the quarterback situation in the team. The Patriots will have to solve this topic in the offseason. Head coach Bill Belichick will look for his potential quarterback on the market. Harrison shared his thoughts on the potential QB option for the Patriots, and Tedy Bruschi won’t agree on this one.

Harrison believes that Stafford was a good fit for the Patriots. Well, Stafford is now gone. The Detroit Lions traded him to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff and a few draft picks. So, is there another option for the Patriots?

NFL analysts have mentioned Jimmy Garoppolo in the recent talks. Harrison talked about this on the “Patriots Talk Podcast.”

“He’s gonna be a heck of a lot better situated for that moment than, say, somebody else because he knows Bill, he’s comfortable with Josh,” Harrison said. “He knows their system. So I would say Jimmy G is definitely a viable option.”

An intriguing QB option for the Patriots

Garoppolo will earn $24.1 million in 2021. He is carrying a $26.4 million cap hit. The quarterback helped his team make the Super Bowl last season. He was a backup quarterback for Tom Brady. Will he be able to stay healthy and lead the Patriots to another Super Bowl?

“Of course I am,” Harrison said when asked if he is worried about Garoppolo being injury prone. “But what do you have out here? You’ve got garbage out here. You don’t have anything. You don’t have much. So when you do get a great quarterback, when you do get somebody special, you sign him up for 10 or 15 years like Kansas City did Patrick Mahomes.

“You have to really embrace that quarterback because when you think about the personality of the team, a lot of times — yeah, it comes from the coach — but it really comes from the quarterback. And when a team can sense that your quarterback is tough, he’s unselfish, he’s willing to come in early, leave late, do all the little things and make it not about him, then you have a guy like Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes and now you’re set.”
