Tedy Bruschi Destroys Matthew Stafford For Not Being ‘Tough Enough’ to Play For Patriots

The Detroit Lions sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams. They will get two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and quarterback Jarrett Goff. Several teams showed interested in getting Stafford, including the New England Patriots. Well, Stafford did not even think of joining the Patriots. He did not want to play with under head coach Bill Belichick. So, former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi shared his thoughts on the Matthew Stafford decision to skip the Patriots.

We do not really know what made Stafford feel this way. Some experts believe this was related to the hiring of former Lions head coach Matt Patricia. The Patriots are not an option for skill players. That’s what experts say.

Matthew Stafford did not want to join the Patriots

Bruschi talked about Stafford, suggesting that the quarterback doesn’t have the mental toughness needed to work with head coach Belichick. This doesn’t make him a good fit for the Patriots.

“He’s not tough enough to play here. He’s just not tough enough,” the three-time Super Bowl champion said. “I don’t think he’s tough enough to be coached hard. Do you realize the mental toughness that Tom Brady had to have for 20 years to deal with Bill Belichick and that type of coaching? I mean, constant pressure every single day. Does Stafford sort of grab you as a guy who could handle that? I just don’t think so.”

There’s a different aspect of the situation. Bruschi is actually happy with Stafford’s decision to pass on the Patriots. In other words, he is not a fan of Stafford.

Stafford has made the postseason in three occasions. Each of these trips to the playoffs ended with a failure. Well, the Rams have enough potential to make a deep run. LA fans approve Stafford’s arrival in the team.

When it comes to Belichick and his Patriots, the situation is pretty alarming. The organization has to address several important topics, including the quarterback position and the tight ends. The same applies to the receiving unit. Let’s see how will the Patriots handle their offseason.
