2-Time Pro-Bowler Says He Wants to Play for the Patriots

The New England Patriots have to address several topics in the offseason. They need a quarterback, tight ends, linebackers, and wide receivers… The team has been linked to several top names, including a talented veteran. One particular Pro-Bowler may be making his way to the Patriots.

Two-time Pro Bowler Kyle Rudolph would love to join the Patriots if the team shows interest in his skills. Doug Kyed from NESN was among the first to confirm the story.

Head coach Bill Belichick tried to get Rudolph two years ago. However, their attempt went down the hill. Rudolp turned out to be a salary-cap casualty when the Minnesota Vikings released him. Minnesota is the only team Rudolph has ever played for in his 10-year career.

The Pro-Bowler may soon join the Patriots

The Patriots need a hand in the passing game. They also need assistance in their tight production.

NFL coaches value Rudolph’s experience. His presence in the locker room is more than notable. The veteran has never been a burner on the field, but he runs solid routes and has great hands. Believe it or not, Rudolph had just one drop in the last three seasons. The Patriots will probably find a good role for Rudolph’s ability to pass block.

New England needs weapons in the passing game. If they decide to go with max-protect looks, Rudolph can protect his quarterback in tight situations. In 2020, he ranked 12th among all tight ends in the same category as cofirmed by Pro Football Focus.

Adding Rudolph would be the perfect upgrade for the team. They had Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene in 2020, and both tight end struggled to perform. Belichick selected Keene and Asiasi in the third-round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

When it comes to cons, Rudolph has some miles on his body. He has shown great durability in the last seven seasons and missed just four games. Rudolph missed all four games in 2020. He will turn 32 in 2021 and may need time to heal his body.

Rudolph may end up taking snaps away from Asiasi, Keene and any tight end option Belichick takes in the 2021 NFL Draft.
