Bill Belichick Mindset This Offseason Has Been Revealed
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick missed the playoffs in his first season without Tom Brady and he will probably change his approach in the offseason.
The Patriots finished the season with a 7-9 record. It’s a terrible losing record and Belichick is not used to this. He is designed to win. The legendary head coach has to make a few moves and rebuild his roster. When it comes to Brady, he won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bill Belichick to solve quarterback mystery in the offseason
So, yes, Belichick will do his best to repair the damage. Recent reports suggest that great Bill is willing to spend a lot of money in the offseason. In other words, he will be super aggressive in the next few months.
“You look at teams, like, for example, the Patriots, who are flush with capital this offseason in terms of cap space,” Field Yates said. “This is a team that could have 60-plus million dollars in cap space if they do nothing. That number could balloon if they make a couple of cuts on their own. And let me ask you something that’s a rhetorical question: Do you think Bill Belichick wants to go 7-9 again next year? Yeah, we know the answer to that question.
“We’ll talk about the quarterback solution the Patriots have to figure out at some point this offseason. But when you’ve got teams that are effectively sitting out in free agency — you’ve gone from 32 to 24 teams that are actually spending and the Patriots have a stack of cash — I know this team was down last year, but I expect them to look a lot different by the time we get to the first wave of free agency. Bill Belichick is ready to spend.”
Is Newton coming back
Getting a franchise quarterback is a top priority now. Belichick likes Cam Newton, but he is worried about his hand. The Patriots didn’t give Newton the weapons he needed to win games. His debut with the Patriots was terrible. If Belichick wants him back, he will have to give Newton the right teammates.
The Patriots are entering a tough offseason and they have to make a few big moves. Some players will leave the team while others will get a brand new deal. Maybe Belichick will bring back some of his former players. Jimmy Garoppolo?
