Eastern Conference Team Reportedly ‘Called’ Lakers About Top Role Player

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t even think of trading for a player. They didn’t even think of trading away some of their veterans. Well, an Eastern Conference franchise has contacted the Lakers front office for a top role player. LA may consider making some changes now that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are out.

The trade deadline is already here and the Lakers may agree to a big deal in an effort to win some games while their superstars get better. Jake Fischer from Bleacher Report reported that the Lakers may trade Montrezl Harrell to the Charlotte Hornets.

“The Hornets could find that frontcourt depth in Memphis’ Gorgui Dieng, whom the Grizzlies are looking to move before his contract expires at the end of the season,” Fischer wrote. “Charlotte has also called the Lakers about Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles’ bruising center, sources said, and the reigning champions appear willing to entertain offers.”

Lakers won’t lose their top role player that easily

Harrell is a big name for the Lakers. The veteran is averaging 14.7 points per game and ranks fourth on the Lakers list. Of course, Rob Pelinka will try to get nice assets in return. Trading the reigning Sixth Man of the Year will be hard, but the Lakers could get a nice name in return.

The Hornets have Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward and LaMelo Ball. Pelinka won’t get any of these players. Devonte’ Graham is a good option though. His career 37.2% 3-point shooting could be of great help for the Lakers. Graham is averaging 13.2 points per game and is fourth-best on the Hornets roster.

Trading Harrell for Graham doesn’t make sense for Frank Vogel and his team. Harrell is a valuable piece and Pelinka brought him in LA for a reason. Maybe the Hornets can offer Malik Monk. He is shooting 41.8% from three. This shooting will definitely help LA won a lot of games. Graham and Monk would solve some of the problems LA has at the moment. But, losing Graham is a big bite to swallow.
