Frank Vogel Announces Andre Drummond Starting Lineup Decision

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel will have Andre Drummond in the starting lineup sooner than expected. The veteran center has yet to make his debut with the Lakers. He hasn’t played since mid-February, but yes, he is ready to see some action. The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking for the perfect trade partner but failed to find any. Drummond got his buyout deal and signed with the Lakers overnight.

Vogel will be working with a talented player and now ha made a decision on Drummond’s availability status.

According to the Lakers head coach, Drummond will make his debut with the team on Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. He will help his teammates go against Giannis Antetokounmpo and his team. That’s not all. The 27-year-old will be part of the starting lineup.

Frank Vogel changes his starting lineup

We weren’t really shocked by Vogel’s decision to give Drummond a starting role. LA is dealing with too many injuries at this point. Anthony Davis missed every game since February and LeBron James will sit out the next few weeks.  Marc Gasol missed some time but he failed to meet expectations on the floor. Montrezl Harrell and Gasol split time at center. Vogel wasn’t happy with their contribution. Drummond has a different story to tell. LA needed him badly, and he signed with the team at the right time.

Drummond will start his first game since Feb. 12. His team played against the Portland Trail Blazers back then.

The center was averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds on 45.4 percent shooting with the Cavaliers. However, his role noticed a drop after the Cavaliers got Jarrett Allen from the Brooklyn Nets. The 22-year-old made a difference and the Cavaliers gave him a big role.

LA needs consistent production at center. Drummond provides an excellent upgrade. He is the best rebounder and LA could use some of his defense, too. He is an excellent rim protector and LA got a full package at a low price. Of course, Drummond won’t be a primary offensive option for the Lakers, but he can score early on in games.
