Here Are Reported Details Of Patriots-49ers Jimmy Garoppolo Trade Talks

The New England Patriots may be interested in trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Well, the trade talks seem to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. It looks like the Garoppolo trade talks didn’t go well.

Greg Bedard from Boston Sports Journal reported that the former Patriots quarterback is still “plan A” for the Patriots at quarterback. Yes, the team offered Cam Newton a one-year deal, but Bedard had a different story to tell.

Well, things have changed. In an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Felger& Mazz” show, Bedard said Bill Belichick and his team are uncomfortable with San Francisco’s level of engagement in the potential trade.

“Basically, the way it’s gone this offseason, there have been talks and the 49ers just won’t engage,” Bedard said. “In the terms that I’ve heard, they’re screwing around and they’re being, like, ‘I don’t wanna do this until we have something.’ … And the Patriots have basically said, “Alright, we’re out, we’re doing something else.’

“They can’t afford to wait around. And, so, I think that’s what the Patriots did. … Now, there is some belief that … the 49ers just release Jimmy. I think there’s a little bit of hope of that. But, again, that’s just hope.”

In Sunday’s column for BSJ, Bedard described the likeliest scenario. According to him, the Patriots will enter training camp with Newton and select a quarterback.

There are several great options at tight end for the Patriots. Ohio State product Justin Fields is one of the top prospects. The Patriots are set to select 15th overall, soo they will have to trade some picks to get Fields.
