Joe Thuney Delivered Emotional Goodbye To Patriots In Instagram Note After Joining Chiefs

Veteran guard Joe Thuney wrote his last goodbye for the New England Patriots. This was his farewell letter to the Patriots. The guard took to his Instagram account to deliver the message.

Thuney thanked the Patriots organization, including all the coaches and teammates he has worked with. He also thanked fans for their support. The guard is now joining a new team and this is his first time to wear another jersey.

“The past few weeks have been a whirlwind and I wanted to take time to reflect on the past 5 years,” Thuney wrote. “I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been part of such a top class organization like the Patriots. Cannot say thank you enough to the Kraft family, Coach (Bill) Belichick, Scar (Dante Scarneccia), all the coaches and support staff throughout the organization, the fans of New England, and especially my teammates.

“I gave everything I had for the team and I just wanted to be out there on that field fighting for the men beside me week in and week out. New England will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will always be a Patriot. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d experience the past 5 years, but I am eternally grateful. All good things must come to an end, and the journey continues. Thank you New England.”

Joe Thuney says his goodbye to the Patriots to become a Chiefs guard

Thuney was a Day 1 starter for the team. He arrived in New England in 2016. The Patriots got him in the third-round of the draft. Thuney started every game for the Patriots in the last five seasons, usually playing at left guard. He has two Super Bowl rings and also played in another Super Bowl. Many would agree that Thuney is one of the best players in this position.

Seeing him go was a big blow for the Patriots. However, Trent Brown will join the team and center David Andrews re-signed with the team Thursday. They will make one of the best O-lines in the NFL. It’s like the Patriots don’t even need Thuney with Brown and Andrews on the roster.
