Lakers Are a Finalist to Sign Former All-Star Center

The Los Angeles Lakers can easily make a move at this point of the season, and they have a chance to sign a former All-Star center. There were too many trade rumors related to the team. However, the front office decided not to make a deal at the trade deadline.

The team will turn to the buyout market to boost the roster. Two centers will enter the open market. Andre Drummond and LaMarcus Aldridge will soon receive their buyouts. Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports has more details.

The Lakers are the perfect destination for Drummond. Prior to the trade deadline, Brian Windhorst from ESPN reported that pretty much everyone supports Drummond’s signing with the Lakers.

“The league believes, and I know that’s a vague statement, but I’m saying it that way to avoid trapping myself,” Windhorst explained, per Real GM. “The league believes, numerous teams I’ve talked to believe that Andre Drummond is heading for the Lakers if slash when he gets bought out.”

LA Lakers to sign another center

The Lakers can get Aldridge, too. Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN reported that the Heat are favorites to sign him.

“Once LaMarcus Aldridge completes a buyout with the Spurs, the Miami Heat are expected to emerge as a frontrunner to sign him, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski noted on Twitter. “Aldridge plans to talk with several teams before finalizing a decision.”

The franchise did an effort to get Kyle Lowry from the Raptors. Dennis Schroder wasn’t enough and the deal was off. The Lakers will work on a deal for Drummond and Aldridge. They will face a tough competition when it comes to signing Drummond.

“Same with Drummond, I think there are a number of teams who would love to have him,” Wojnarowski explained on The Jump. “Both L.A. teams, the Nets, the Knicks are certainly a team with some cap space moving forward that could be intriguing and Drummond will certainly have his choice of where he wants to play.”
