Lakers Respond to Worrisome Report About Anthony Davis

Lakers fans can’t wait to have Anthony Davis back on the floor. Well, the Los Angeles Lakers have provided an update on Davis’ situation.

It’s not really an update. According to sources close to the team, “nothing has changed” regarding the big man. This comes in reference to all the rumors suggesting that AD will miss the next three weeks.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports was among the first to report the news. AD has been out of the game for a month.

“Sources informed Yahoo Sports that Davis couldbe sidelined for the next three weeks and possibly beyond. The Lakers will be overly cautious in their approach to working Davis back even at the cost of slipping in the standings, which has occurred.”

Lakers want Anthony Davis back

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel took notice of the report and stepped forward with his update. According to Vogel, nothing has changed and they will re-evaluate AD in a couple of weeks.

This comes amid the latest update on AD. He is taking the next step of his recovery process.

“Anthony Davis was examined by team doctors this evening. He is progressing in his recovery and has been cleared to enter the next phase of his return to play process. He will be re-evaluated by team doctors in two weeks and an update will be given at that time.”

The Lakers have to keep AD healthy and ready for the postseason. He’d play just 22 games prior to the NBA playoffs to get the right shape if he misses three more weeks.

AD is ready to take action

AD has been traveling with his team. He was also spotted in the building as LA confronted the Golden State Warriors. The big man put up some shots, but didn’t get off the ground while shooting.

Vogel says his team is pretty cautious with AD.

“We anticipated it’s going to be a little bit of a build-up once we got back [from the All-Star break],” the head coach told reporters last week. “We’ll be patient. We’ll continue to compete and win games. And we’ll all be very excited when we finally get [Davis] back.”

Dennis Schroder shared the exchange he had with AD on the bench after sending a lob to Damian Jones.

“Since he’s been out, he got on me when Damian Jones set a pick on the left wing and I found him for the alley-oop right away. He looked at me, and he was like ‘Why can’t you do that with me?’” Schroder said. “We’re still trying to figure it out. I think when he comes back, I’m going to put more pressure on myself to find him even more for the lobs because I think nobody can stop that.”
