LeBron James Addresses On Comparison With Michael Jordan

Space Jam 2 will be out in theaters this summer and fans can’t wait to see if it’s better than the first movie. The sequel will be released 25 years after Michael Jordan fired up theaters. Bugs Bunny is here, and so are the Monstars. LeBron respects Michael Jordan and he even discussed the comparison people made.

The Chicago Bulls legend dominated the floor back in the days, and it’s LeBron’s turn to accept the challenge. The four-time NBA champion shared some photos of him on set. It’s awesome and magical at the same time.

This leads us all the way to the difference between LeBron and MJ. Basketball fans started comparing King James with the Bulls icon.

LeBron discusses Michael Jordan and recent comparison.

In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, LeBron talked about the movie and praised Jordan for his great work. Jordan’s piece actually motivated LeBron to do a similar project.

“There were a lot of films for me, but Space Jam was definitely up there. Just growing up and loving the NBA, and obviously loving Michael Jordan, and loving the Looney Tunes, it was an automatic and a very organic blend between the two worlds.

“And it was fun to see what MJ and Bugs and Taz and all those great toons were able to go through in that first movie. So it definitely had a big part of my childhood.”

LeBron knows that people compare him to Jordan. One thing stands for sure. He is a fan of the basketball legend and respects everything he did in his professional career. However, LeBron is focused on his own greatness. Being compared to Jordan didn’t affect him at all. He is well aware of the fact that he and Jordan have an army of fans.

“In my younger days, part of the thinking, besides focusing on the game of basketball, was, “Space Jam was so good, how can I top this?” There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron trying to do everything that Michael [did]. So when I was younger, you’d give in to those. But I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you believe in, and you know what you stand for. Those type of conversations are going to happen anyway. They don’t really get to you as much as they [would] when you’re younger.”

LeBron has yet to talk to MJ

Did LeBron talk to Jordan about the project? We don’t really know if they communicate. Jordan owns the Charlotte Hornets and he may not be allowed to talk to LeBron. Tampering, remember?

“No, I haven’t had a conversation with Mike about Space Jam, but I hope to if he gets an opportunity to see the movie. I did my best to continue it. I think one thing that we will show the viewers is that it’s not a sequel. It’s its own movie and twist. But to be able to just be in the Space Jam world, it’s something that Mike created and is his. I respect that, and I held that with lot of responsibility.”

Each movie has its own twist and LeBron respects his own project.
