LeBron James Reveals Why He Wants To ‘Retire’ From Being All-Star Captain

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James selected his All-Star team as he was the captain of Team LeBron. The NBA changed the All-Star game and two superstars get to draft teams for the game. LeBron was a captain each year and has a 4-0 record.

We all know that LeBron is the top vote-getter for the All-Star weekend every year. He had the honor of picking players against another big star each year. In 2018, he went against Stephen Curry. The last two seasons, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo picked against LeBron. This year, LeBron confronted Kevin Durant. The Brooklyn Nets superstar had to sit out the game due to a hamstring injury.

LeBron James to quit being captain

We don’t know if LeBron can opt out of this responsibility. Well, we make this comment relying on the possibility that he wins the fan vote again in 2022. LeBron had a 4-0 start as captain. The four-time NBA champion said he’d like to go out with an undefeated record as All-Star Game captain.

“I hope that they allow me to retire from being an All-Star captain, so I can retire with a perfect 4-0 record,” LeBron said after Sunday’s game. “I’ll keep that forever. But we’ll just see what happens.”

Most thought LeBron won the draft with Durant after the NBA teams were confirmed. MVP favorite Joel Embiid was ruled out right before the game. He was a member of Durant’s team, and losing a top player harmed the team even further.

Sunday’s game was fairly close, but LeBron’s team opened it up with a 60-point second quarter. Giannis won the MVP award for the game, scoring 35 points. Curry and Damian Lillard traded three sfrom half-court. LeBron played just 13 minutes, tied for the fewest on his squad. He didn’t really want to play the game, but he had to join other players.

LeBron and the Lakers will take action on Friday night. They will take part in a home game against the Indiana Pacers.
