New England Patriots Sign Massive, 6’6′ Defensive Lineman

The New England Patriots needed to address several issues, and got a bunch of players in the first few hours of the NFL’s legal tampering period. The Patriots decided to sign a defensive lineman, and he will sure help the team win more games in 2021.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Bill Belichick agreed to a two-year deal with Henry Anderson. The defensive lineman measures at 6’6’’, 300 pounds. His contract has a max value of $11 million, incentives included.

Head coach Belichick was expected to be more aggressive in the offseason. Most experts said the Patriots would sign a few solid players.

No one thought that Belichick would add seven free agents on Monday. Anderson was the seventh addition for the team. He will probably revamp the defense that ranked 26th in the league this past season.

The Patriots also signed WR Nelson Agholor, WR Kendrick Bourne, TE Jonnu Smith, DT Davon Godchaux, LB Matthew Judon, CB Jalen Mills on Monday. It was a busy day for the team.

Patriots sign defensive lineman to make the playoffs in 2020

New England has addressed almost every problem of the team in 2020. The NFL draft is next month, and the team may select a young quarterback.

Anderson spent six seasons in the league with the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Jets. Indianapolis selected him in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Stanford. Anderson played in 29 games in his first three years with the team and then signed with the Jets in 2018.

Anderson’s first season with the Jets was actually the best season of his pro career. In 2018, the defensive lineman had seven sacks, 16 quarterback hits and four passes defended. His stats aren’t that great, but he had a steady performance in 2019-20. Anderson notched an Approximate Value score of seven and four, respectively, in New York’s final two seasons.

Anderson has the right size and versatility for the Patriots. He has the size and strength to play up and down the Patriots’ defensive line. Belichick has valued this versatility in the past.
