NFL Analyst Believes Patriots Made ‘Most Head-Scratching Move’ Of Free Agency

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick made a few big moves in free agency. He had to add depth to his receiving unit and there were a few great moves at the moment. So, Patriots fans will definitely like Belichick’s shopping spree and all the players he brought in town.

New England signed two wide receivers in free agency. Nelson Agholor and Kendric Bourne are the perfect additions to the Patriots roster. They aren’t No.1 and No.2 wideouts and they have to be more consistent on the field. The Patriots spent a combined $21 million to get both of them.

Mike Clay believes that these deals are actually the most head-scratching moves of the offseason.

“The Patriots overpaying role-playing wide receivers,” Clay wrote for ESPN.com. “Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne are fine No. 3 or No. 4 options on most teams. But New England seemed to misjudge a soft wide receiver market by committing $16 million to the inconsistent Agholor (more than Will Fuller V and Marvin Jones Jr. earned, among others) and $5 million to Bourne (more than John Brown, Breshad Perriman and Tyrell Williams agreed to, among others).”

Patriots had strong free agency program

Patriots fans really hope that coaches will get the best of their newly-signed wideouts. Agholor and Bourne will enter the seventh and fifth seasons of their careers, respectively. Belichick saw something in Bourne. He has already tried to trade for him. Oh, yes, he tried to get him twice. This happened during his four-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers. Agholor has some cool home-run potential and he may benefit from Belichick’s offense in 2021.

Did Belichick overpay for his wideouts? This may not be a big concern if both players stack some nice stats in their debut with the Patriots. NFL analysts have some cool predictions for the Patriots.

Belichick has plenty of talent to make the playoffs in 2021, and he won’t miss the opportunity to win more games with newly-signed players.

He brought guys like Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. These two are expected to make a big impact on the field in the upcoming season.
