Patriots Announce Four Roster Moves, Including Trent Brown Trade

The New England Patriots made many moves in the past few days and they won’t even stop here. According to recent sources, the Patriots will take part in a Trent Brown trade.

Re-signing the offensive tackle is a big move. Head coach Bill Belichick will do business with the Las Vegas Raiders. New England is sending a fifth-round pick to Vegas to get Brown and a seventh-rounder. The deal was first confirmed last week.

Brown was part of the Patriots in 2018. He started every game at left tackle for the team that won the Super Bowl.

Patriots agreed to a Trent Brown trade

This is not the only move Belichick made these days. The Patriots have also confirmed the Marcus Cannon trade. The veteran offensive tackle will go to the Houston Texans. This deal also includes a swap of Day 3 draft picks. The Patriots will get fourth- and sixth-round selections in exchange for their veteran. This also includes a fifth and a lower sixth.

The Patriots also confirmed the releases of wide receiver Marqise Lee and defensive tackle Beau Allen. These two didn’t play for the team. Lee opted-out of the 2020 season due to health concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic. The team removed Allen with a failed physical designation. He missed the entire season due to an injury.

The team has yet to announce the 10 external free agent signings they have worked on this week. Belichick agreed to deals with tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry, wide receivers Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne, outside linebackers Matt Judon and Kyle Van Noy, defensive linemen Davon Godchaux and Henry Anderson, defensive back Jalen Mills and center Ted Karras.

The Patriots offered Cam Newton a one-year contract extension. He will probably compete with other quarterbacks for the starting position. Well, he did the same in 2020. Belichick made him compete with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Let’s see how will the Patriots enter the new season. The current roster looks really good. Belichick addressed pretty much every issue, and he is ready to make the playoffs in 2020.
