Patriots Insider Predicts Team Will Make Bold Move For A Quarterback

Thursday was a big day for many NFL teams, including the San Francisco 49ers. The tea traded picks with the Miami Dolphins in order to get the No.3 overall. The Niners are now able to get one of the best quarterback prospects in this year’s draft.

Jeff Howe from The Athletic reported that the Patriots will probably make a similar aggressive move to solve their quarterback issue. The Patriots are one of the several teams still trying to find their quarterback of the future. According to Howe, the Patriots plan to remain “committed to exhausting their options… either by drafting a top prospect or acquiring a veteran” like Niners’ Jimmy Garoppolo.

Patriots to get the right quarterback

Earlier this offseason, the Patriots offered Cam Newton a one-year deal worth $6 million. The team has a quarterback for their 2021 season, but we can’t really see Newton as a quarterback of the future. Howe reported that the Patriots will “remain aggressive on the quarterback front” as they go closer to the 2021 NFL Draft. Howe reported that the team is “all in” on “heavily scouting” the quarterback options from this group.

The top three picks are all but locked up. New England will have to trade to the Atlanta Falcons’ No.3 spot if they want to get a top prospect. Bill Belichick and his team hold the No.15 overall selection, so they will have to give up more than San Francisco did in order to make the top five. Two future first-round picks/one 2021 third round, maybe?

If Belichick doesn’t trade up in the draft, he will have to go after Garoppolo.

The Niners say that Garoopolo is their starter in 2021. They traded up to No.2 and probably changed their mind. Garoppolo may be available really soon. Howe reported that “once the Niners stop bluffing,” the Patriots may be the frontrunners to ink Garoppolo.

Will Garoppolo join the Patriots? There are so many questions we’d like to ask right now. We will wait for coach Belichick to make a move.
