Report: LeBron James Takes Over as MVP Favorite Once Again

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James doesn’t really care about individual awards, but he is definitely the MVP favorite for the season. Guess what… The four-time NBA champion took the top spot again as Joel Embiid sustained a knee injury. Embiid will probably miss at least a couple of weeks.

The 17-time All-Star is at +115 odds to win the NBA MVP for the season as suggested by BetOnline.ag. Nikola Jokic has the second-best odds at +250. Embiid is third with +600. James Harden goes at +800 and Luka Doncic is at +1200. This is your top five.

It’s interesting to note that LeBron is a top favorite over Jokic. He is having an excellent season and his MVP performance didn’t go unnoticed. The kid from Akron is averaging 25.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.8 assists in the first 37 games of the season. LeBron is shooting close to 51 percent from the field. He is pretty aggressive on the defensive end of the floor.

However, we can’t ignore the struggles LA had without big man Anthony Davis. The Lakers veteran is out due to an Achilles injury. LA was just 2-6 in the final eight games prior to the All-Star weekend. LeBron still played great despite the struggles.

LeBron James is the MVP favorite for a reason

Some say Jokic has the strongest case of any player on the floor. He is tied with Embiid in terms of player efficiency rating (PER). However, he has leads in win shares per 48 minutes, box plus-minus, and value over replacement (VORP). King James ranks third in the latter category. Jokic has a true shooting clip and it goes near 65 percent.

The only thing we can do right now is sit and wait. The second half of the regular season is always great. Things get really hot, and players do their best to make the big game. LeBron and his Lakers teammates are trying to repeat the success they had in 2021. Things didn’t look too well ahead of the All-Star break, but they are back on track. LA defeated the Pacers and Kyle Kuzma did wonders on the floor.
