Report: Patriots “Have Been All Over” 1 Quarterback Prospect

The New England Patriots offered Cam Newton a one-year deal but they have shown great interest in one particular quarterback prospect. NFL analysts thought that head coach Bill Belichick would move on from Newton. Well, guess what… Belichick likes Newton so much that he even offered him another deal. Of course, he will have to give him the right weapons. Oh wait, he already did that. The legendary head coach signed a bunch of talented players, including Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry. Who is the next to join the team?

According to recent sources, the team has its sights set on one particular quarterback prospect in the 2021 NFL draft.

Jeff Howe from The Athletic reported that Belichick’s team has been “all over” BYU quarterback Zach Wilson. It looks like at least one Patriots scout will arrive at the young gunslinger’s pro day on Friday afternoon.

“The Patriots have been all over Zach Wilson (and every other top QB in the class), and Eliot Wolf is attending his pro day,” Howe tweeted. “They might not have a chance at him if the Jets and Dolphins have no interest in facilitating a trade, but it’s important to be prepared if he slides.”

Patriots may not be able to trade for the quarterback prospect

Well, trading up to get Wilson may be impossible for Belichick and his team.

NFL insiders believe that the New York Jets will select Wilson with the second overall pick. They won’t be interested in doing business with the Patriots. I mean, we are talking about a prospect like Wilson. New York won’t give up on him that easily.

A couple of weeks ago, Howe reported that the Patriots were “heavily scouting” the top quarterbacks in this year’s group.

They like Alabama quarterback Mac Jones. Several reports have confirmed this appreciation. But, we don’t really know which quarterback the Patriots prefer.

If any of the top prospects in this year’s class goes down the board, Belichick may make a move. He won’t think twice before making a good offer for other players and teams.
