Report: Patriots Projected to Draft Uber-Athletic, Hybrid LB

The New England Patriots have to address some of the issues they had in 2020. They have to select several players and head coach Bill Belichick may decide to trade for big names in the open market. Belichick needs a franchise quarterback. He also needs wide receivers and linebackers. A couple of tight ends could do the trick, too. The Patriots have the No.15 pick overall. They can use the pick to get a much-needed receiver. They may also trade up to get a better name. NFL experts have a few suggestions for the Patriots, and they may soon get a hybrid LB.

New England needs help on both sides of the ball. Belichick should focus on his offense, and the defense needs some trimming, too.

Draft expert Matt Miller of The Draft Scout has a nice scenario for the Patriots. Penn State’s Micah Parsons goes to New England on some draft boards. Gregory Rousseau from Miami joins the Patriots in others. Miller took a different route, suggesting that the Patriots get Notre Dame’s linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Miller discusses the Patriots’ need to get a quarterback. He also discussed the Patriots’ most formidable AFC East rival as motivation for the team selecting someone like Owusu-Koramoah.

“A pick that helps the Patriots right now is defensive weapon Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah from Notre Dame. A 6’1”, 220-pound missile, JOK has lined up as a STAR, a linebacker and a safety. He can be deployed in a myriad of alignments and assignments. And when you’re dealing with Josh Allen twice a year, defenders with versatility and big play potential are a need.”

When it comes to signing players, New England will focus on getting a quarterback. Cam Newton may be their top choice as he has great experience with the team. He was part of Belichick’s offense for a year, and this gives him plenty of time to get used to the new system. New England should provide him with the right weapons in order to win more games in the upcoming season.
