Tedy Bruschi Has Blunt Response To Potential 49ers-Patriots Trade For Jimmy Garoppolo

The New England Patriots have been linked to several players including a former Patriots quarterback. When it comes to former players, Tedy Bruschi discussed the potential trade for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

It was a wild offseason for the Patriots organization. Head coach Bill Belichick addressed pretty much every issue. Well, he still has to make a decision on his franchise quarterback. Cam Newton agreed to a one-year deal with the team but this doesn’t put him under center straight away. Belichick may make him compete with Jarrett Stidham in training camp. He may also bring a rookie to learn under the 2015 NFL MVP. Where does this leave Garoppolo?

The 49ers traded up the 2021 NFL draft this weekend. They traded the No.12 pick and a third-round pick from 2021 and first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 to get the No.3 selection. Is San Francisco going after the quarterback of the future? If yes, Garoppolo’s future with the team is hanging in the air. The veteran quarterback struggled to stay healthy in the past few years.

Tedy Bruschi is not a fan of potential Jimmy Garoppolo move

Bruschi discussed the potential reunion with the Patriots. According to the former linebacker, San Francisco’s recent trade makes a potential trade really difficult.

“Now that San Francisco is talking about, ‘the price has to be right’ I would say absolutely not,” Bruschi said. “That price is going to be high, it’s going to be a high draft pick…For me that goes against everything Bill Belichick is.”

“To pay a high price for a player that has poor durability. And I can just hear him right now thinking ‘why would I give all that for a player I don’t even know is going to play 16 games.’”

In other words, Belichick souldn’t give up much in the trade for Garoppolo. Bruschi knows football and his remarks are actually pretty accurate.

Let’s see how will the Patriots handle their quarterback situation. Is Garoppolo staying with the 49ers? Will Belichick select a quarterback? Some believe he will get his signal-caller in the first round.
