Watch: LeBron James Dunks on LaMelo Ball

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James dunks on Rookie LaMelo Ball for the win. This was probably the best lesson for the Charlotte Hornets rookie. The young Ball met the king of basketball for the very first time. They met on Thursday and Melo will long remember LeBron’s dunk. The rookie tried to go after LeBron but he decided to take a step back.

Ball has a great season and he is averaging 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Ball’s great stats helped the team jump to No.5 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Melo’s brother Lonzo spent two seasons in Los Angeles. Being LeBron’s teammate wasn’t really easy for Lonzo and he had some struggles on the floor. Ball has spent the past couple of seasons as a player with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers traded him to the Pelicans in the Anthony Davis trade package.

LeBron James dunks on LaMelo Ball to teach him a lesson

This game was a homecoming for LaMelo Ball. He grew up in Chino Hills, California, and that’s about half an hour east of downtown LA.

This dunk didn’t come as a surprise but Melo’s attitude surprised us. He was pretty strong with his comments on the Lakers superstar. Yes, we all saw him throw shade at the Laker.

“I mean, nah,” he said when asked if he was excited to play against King James. “I grew up a little different. Not really on basketball like that. So, not really.”

“It was my Pops,” Ball responded when asked if he had a role model. “So, I was big on family and stuff like that. Not really with the basketball.”

The young kid was super excited about his game, but he couldn’t have any of his family members watching the game. The Lakers don’t have any fans in attendance and that makes things difficult for everyone. Melo would have loved to see his Ball gang in the stands. Maybe he will have better luck next time.

“Obviously you want your family to come see you, and then growing up, they always watched me, so it would kind of be like going in the past,” Ball said. “I know my people. They’ll be cool watching it on TV, too. We really like chilling at the house, more with the comfortable stuff other than being out. Like, I honestly would rather watch a game at home, chilling, than going to one.”
