The Los Angeles Lakers signed Andre Drummond to win more games but he lost his toenail in the debut with the team. Guess what… Drummond is coming back. The big man is ready to hit the floor again. Who broke the news? The big man himself.
Drummond will join his teammates in the game against the Miami Heat. He took to Instagram to deliver the big news. Yes, he is “still missing a toenail,” but can’t wait to play with his team again.
The former Cleveland Cavaliers center suffered a toe injury in the game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He missed three games and LA went 2-1.
Andre Drummond to win games without a toenail
Drummond is coming back and he is ready to join the starting lineup. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel will bench Marc Gasol in favor of Drummond. That’s why the Lakers signed him in first place. Gasol was pretty frustrated with the new situation but he understands it now. He has embraced his new role. Winning games is a priority now, right?
It’s interesting to note that Gasol was brilliant in Drummond’s absence. But, it’s too late to make a good first impression. He missed a lot of time due to the league’s health and safety protocols. The front office brought Drummond to go under center all while reducing Gasol’s role. It was a big bite to swallow but the Spanish native is fine with it.
Vogel said that Drummond is going to the starting lineup despite Gasol’s performance.
Drummond needs to spend more time with his new team on the floor in order to get acclimated to the new environment. That’s why Vogel decided to give him more minutes.
The Cavaliers got Drummond out of the game after announcing they were looking for a trade partner. They didn’t find one and Drummond got his buyout deal. LA didn’t waste any time. The big man joined the Purple and Gold just a few days after leaving the Cavs. Now he has a real chance to win a championship.
