Big Draft-Day Trade Proposal Would Bring Jimmy Garoppolo Back to Patriots

The New England Patriots offered veteran Cam Newton a one-year deal. Head coach Bill Belichick trusted Newton enough to give him another chance. But, this doesn’t mean that Newton will go under center. Head coach Belichick may get another quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. He may also trade for a signal-caller. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been linked to the Patriots for quite some time.

Fans won’t stop talking until Garoppolo takes his first snap in the upcoming season as a player with the 49ers.

Jimmy Garoppolo may not join the Patriots

ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said that the Patriots may try to get Garoppolo on draft day. He believes this is the perfect timing for the team.

Greenberg suggests “the moment the 49ers select a quarterback” with the third selection in the upcoming Draft, Garoppolo’s trade value will see a significant drop.

The cost to get the veteran quarterback should be in a range where coach Belichick feels comfortable pulling a move. At this point, New England will be able to get Garoppolo from San Francisco for a second and third-round selection.

Field Yates from ESPN actually refuted Greenberg’s trade proposal. According to him, the best time to trade the veteran has passed. He believes San Francisco will go forth with the quarterback as the starter while training the player they select with the No.3 pick.

The 49ers struggled with injuries and coronavirus. They had the No.6 pick in the upcoming draft. However, the ram traded up to No.3 to make sure they get one of the top quarterback prospects. Well, Garoppolo is still under contract. He struggled to stay strong and healthy in his great career, but sure helped the team make the Super Bowl in 2019.

If Garoppolo stays strong in 2021 and the rest of the roster remains whole from a physical standpoint, you’d have to say that the 49ers have a chance to make the big game.

If Garoppolo deals with other injuries, San Francisco can select a quarterback who will replace him.
