Bill Belichick Has Named His Starting Quarterback For 2021

The New England Patriots made a big splash and now we know the name of the real starting quarterback in 2021. Head coach Bill Belichick and his team drafted Mac Jones with the No.15 overall. The team made a decision and it didn’t come as a surprise to us all.

No, Belichick won’t put his rookie under center. His first-round pick will have to learn under veteran quarterback Cam Newton.

Yes, you read it right. Newton is the Patriots’ starting quarterback for 2021.

In a press conference late on Thursday night, the Patriots head coach said, “Cam is our quarterback.”

Belichick did mention Jones and Jarrett Stidham. However, he did that to reveal the quarterback order on the field.

“Whatever time Jarrett or Mac are ready to challenge or compete, we’ll see how that goes. So, right now, Mac, he’s just got a lot of learning in front of him.”

The media asked what does “Cam is our quarterback mean.” Coach B said, “exactly what I said.”

The reporter was pretty motivated and asked, “for how long?”

Belichick said, “I don’t know.”

Newton signed a one-year deal with the Patriots. It looks like Belichick is willing to let him do his magic on the floor. Newton can do some great things with the new weapons and Belichick knows it. The 2015 NFL MVP will be working with a talented group of players. In 2020, he lacked some strong weapons. New England missed the 2020 playoffs and they won’t go through the same again.

The Patriots finished the 2020 season with a 7-9 record. The defense was bad and the offense struggled on the floor. Newton’s passing stats went down due to the lack of targets. He didn’t have much time to adjust to the new offense and also got COVID.

Newton did help the Patriots win seven games. He ran for 12 touchdowns and provided a good depth to the offense.

Let’s see how will Newton handle the new offense in the upcoming season. Things look really great right now.
