Bill Belichick Reportedly ‘Hates’ NFL’s New Rule Change

Head coach Bill Belichick is not really a fan of the new NFL rule. Well, the New England Patriots and Belichick will have to accept the change. This applies to pretty much every team in the NFL. The league approved the rule the Kansas City Chiefs proposed. This rule will allow more leniency with players’ uniform numbers.

Head coach Belichick gets support from players regarding the new rule

ESPN has an update on the new rule. We also give you the new number parameters:

“Approved a relaxation of rules for the numbers that players of certain positions can wear because of expanded practice squads. Running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, defensive backs and linebackers can all wear numbers in the single digits now if they choose. Based on preexisting NFL rules, players who want to change their numbers this season will have to buy out the inventory of the NFL’s manufacturing partners. This wouldn’t apply to players who give notice in 2021 that they want to change numbers in 2022.”

Players won’t be restricted to the same numbers that were associated with their respective positions. Coach Belichick doesn’t like the new rule. Mike Florio from NBC Sports confirmed the information.

We don’t really know the reasons Belichick has to hate the rule. Guess what… Tom Brady doesn’t like the rule, too.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took to his social media after the big news spread about the NFL rule. According to Brady, the new rule is “dumb.”

“Good luck trying to block the right people now! Going to make for a lot of bad football!”

The veteran quarterback went really hard with his second tweet.

DUMB. Why not let the Lineman wear whatever they want too? Why have numbers? Just have colored jerseys…why not wear the same number?…DUMB.”

The New England Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020 and Belichick will take a different route in 2021. The new rule won’t stop them from winning games, right? Let’s see how will things go in the upcoming season. 2021 will be a big year for every Patriots player.
