Cam Newton Posts Thought-Provoking Instagram After Patriots Draft Mac Jones
Veteran quarterback Cam Newton knows how to make people talk, and this time it has something to do with Mac Jones. Or something like that. The 2015 NFL MVP took to his Instagram account to share a photo of himself. We really love his cryptic messages. He always does that.
The New England Patriots selected the Alabama quarterback on Thursday night. Head coach Bill Belichick used the 15th overall to get the talented prospect.
But, we also know that Belichick said Cam Newton was his quarterback. The veteran signed a one-year deal with the team. New England trusted him enough and Newton will probably start games in September.
Cam Newton to work with Mac Jones
The Patriots missed the playoffs in 2020. Players on both ends struggled on the field. The offense lacked weapons and players failed to make the big game. Newton is incredibly talented but he can’t win games all by himself. He needs great targets and enough time to get used to the system.
Newton has this and much more. Belichick signed Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith and many others in free agency. This team looks much better. The offense is strong and the defense looks really amazing.
So, what made Newton send this message?
His post is cryptic and thought-provoking.
In Newton’s photo, we can see the quarterback standing in front of a mirror.
“It was always me vs. the world until I found out it’s me vs. me!!!” the caption read. Of course, Newton wrote the message using his typical unique font.
We all know this is a quote from Kendrick Lamar.
What does this mean?
The Patriots made it clear that Newton was their quarterback. They got Jones in the draft, but Newton will go under center in the upcoming season. We don’t really know how far is Belichick willing to go to keep Newton around for a few more seasons. He is happy to be with the team at the moment and that’s the only thing that matters.
